![]() the 7 iTunes tasks are still in Task Manager, now down to 4 tasks, several seconds later down to 1 task, MobileDeviceProcess. Now I close the iTunes window (using the big X in top right corner). It reappears in Task Manager, 9 tasks at first down to 7 tasks, two of which are "MobileDeviceHelper (32 bit)" and "MobileDeviceProcess" - are these related to the iPod misadventures? 4 minutes 50 seconds and the iTunes window finally opens. These files serve the app with required information quickly but at the same time, they also create a load on your system, which results in iTunes slowing down on your machine. I turned off Real-Time Scanning of that drive and it made a HUGE difference.Thanks for the suggestion. ![]() I use Microsoft Security Essentials and keep all my music on an external drive. Closed it but it's still hanging around in Task Manager. iTunes is an application, and like other apps, it also stores cache files on your computer. automatically upload to itunes I have automatically upload to iTunes folder on my desktop and everything just sits in this folder. Thereafter, iTunes seems to be "fails to load" but now I'm guessing that it is just "very slow to start up". The trouble started Saturday evening when I (1) completely reset an iPod, so there wasn't any baggage on there, just a couple dozen songs from Apple Music that the iPod learned about on its own during the reset and (2) connected it via lightning cable to the Windows machine (3) and it failed to sync. Thursday-Saturday transferring about 3000 songs and other files into iTunes, building a new library from scratch and fixing up many album associations. Version 12.12.2.2 installed on a brand new Windows 10 machine on Thursday.
